Unsure of posting in the right place...

I'm not sure I'm in the right place, but I'm wondering how long do I have to seperate my hens from the other breeds of roos in order to get correct breeding...ie barred with barred and so on. Right now all my girls and guys are together, and I'd like to hatch in the spring. Thanks in advance!

No less than 14 days...

You need to have the hen away from other roosters for at least 13 days before you can count on a pure breeding, but you can have it with the rooster you want to breed with immediately and you will have some eggs that are pure bred while you're waiting.

3 weeks minimum is what I have read. Many wait a full 4 weeks, to be sure they are pure with a new roo.
