Unsure what to do guidance pls

So im a first time quail owner they are 4 weeks currently in brooder safe in shed. So soon they will be coming outside and have a on the ground enclosure with wiring around theres a box for them to go into but im thinking may need to make something and try get them to go in st nite like i do with chickens just seen fox lurking in the street would they be able to get to them? Any sughestions be grateful

You probably never see them because you've never had anything to attract them before! I saw my first Cooper's hawk up close when it was bouncing up and down on my quail pens. The poor birds were terrified, but at least they had places to hide and the pens are strong enought that it couldn't get in.
 
Fox dig under, raccoons will get under as well. None of my coops are open to the ground for that reason but I have the luxury of free ranging all day

Make sure everything is 1/2" hardware cloth. If they're on the ground, make sure that there's an apron or something that will prevent the predators from digging underneath. If you give them at least a partial roof, that will allow them to hide from hawks.


Galvanized hardware cloth 1/2 " is what I use. Nothing has gotten through.
