unsure what to do please help asap

Hi my friend had 4 chooks they are around 2 yrs old now were real healthy they had an episode last yr where her basset hound arthur got into the coup and caused major damage she returned to 4 chickens lying lifeless and bloody on the lawn ,fortunitly none died but the weeks and months following each one went down hill stopped laying and just started dying ,one had to be put out of its misery yesterday as it stopped eating and drinking and its tail feathers were drooped was like this for a few days , so she is down to the last one now and she is concerned its lonely she has asked if it can come live in my flock but im concerened it may have something wrong with it to she seems happy and healthy walking round eating bugs and doing all the things chooks do ,i know my flock will accept her as they have been awesome with others i have introduced im just worried there may be an underlining problem .. do you think it is most probaly just the dog attack that finished the others off ,she is getting 1 egg which i assume is from this one please help i feel so bad for the hen she would love it here and be very happy but do i take the risk ??????

If you do i would quarantine it for a while. I think I read on here before to keep them separate for 30 days. It sucks for her chicken but would you'd feel worse if your got sick because you didn't separate them. Just my 2 cents.

Am I understanding correctly: the dog attack was a year ago. If that's the case and they've only recently taken ill, I suspect something different has taken it's toll on her flock. I agree with the quarantine suggestion. If you're interested in taking the bird, bring her to your property but keep her on lockdown and avoid contamination w/ your existing flock.

I have her here now and i found out that they had been weed spraying in the yard which the birds often fre range around seems to me this is the cause ,she looks very healthy eating and drinking heaps i have given her water with apple cider vinegar added i swear by it ,and she is being very very noisy ,one strange thing is after not lauing for a lenght of time after 3 hrs of being with us she went into the her bedroom and did the whole egg laying scenario came out looking very pleased with herself how ever there was no egg

. The other chooks all died different times months between each one ,to be honest im not sure if they were just ill and they decided to neck them cuz they thought something wrong or not ,however she seems so happy here talking away to the other hens i have checked for all signs of noticeable illness and nothing suggests that will see how she goes ,strange with the egg thing though it was as if she felt she needed to prove she was as good as the others !!!!!!
