Hi
We picked up a bluebell recently, poor girl has quite long toes so has always been walking funny. Noticed yesterday that she had begun to limp so checked out her feet and got a bit of a shock when I cleaned them up to find lots of soft black scales.
Everything I've read about bumblefoot indicates it would involve a scan but this feels more like necrotic tissue. Anyone know what this is and how best to treat?
Cleaning and bandaging for now but more experienced guidance would be appreciated
Thanks

It is an extremely sevear case of bumblefoot.
It seems that it has some necrotic tissue there, this tissue need to be cut a and all the area need yo be clean, disinfect, and spread with antibiotics.

Just wanted to drop in and say you have received some good information and to Welcome you to BYC :welcome

I hope all goes well for you.

Thanks for the guidance all, much appreciated!
I cut off the necrotic flesh, which had started to toughen up a bit and think I found the 'massive' kernel, but was bloody so hard to see properly. Started raining so have disinfected and bandaged up again and will continue to change bandage daily until next weekend when I have a proper go at surgery.
Never thought I'd spend my nights studying how to perform surgery on a chicken; they were just supposed to be pets for the kids! The many surprises of chicken keeping I guess

You have to put some antibiotic ointment on it! You can use a human ointment if you don't have a veterinarian one! This wound could cause sepsis.

Annoyingly you can not buy antibiotics in my country without a prescription. Fortunately my brother (who lives very far away and never replied to my original messages) is a vet so he is now posting me some.
