Unusual roosting practices question

I have a nice-sized coop that my 7 20-week-old chickens sleep in at night. They free roam during the day. They have always been great about heading to the coop right at dusk, but the last few nights, one, two, or more have been roosting on some PVC piping I have above my garden area. They have been roosting there at dusk instead of going in the coop. It is about 7 feet off the ground. I am assuming they fly up to the fencing around the garden and then up to the PVC. Each night, I have taken them down and put them in the coop. My question is: Should I continue to remove them and put them in the coop? Or let them stay there? It's a small diameter PVC (probably only 1-1/2") and was never meant for them. There's plenty of roosting area in the coop. Thank you in advance!

They might want to roost higher than the perches in the coop. Or something in there might be scaring them. If they were mine, I wouldn't let them stay out all night. Easy prey for owls, coons, etc.
