Glad to hear that you're familiar with black bears. Please understand that those responding here, including myself, don't know your background. If the advice is overly cautious, the person that doesn't need it doesn't get hurt.

One possible solution that hasn't been brought up, but may be helpful..... apparently there's been a lot of women lately that prefer to spend time with bears over men. You might ask around and see if there's a young lady in the neighborhood who happens to be looking for a bear.

I might have the details wrong. I'm not good with these meme things.
