I couldnt sleep at all, I was on here ALL NIGHT! This morning @ 5:20 I was writing back to my buddy, gypsy, and out popped the first one completely. Then the other finished about 10 minutes later. It took them less than an hour to zip...way less! After that happened, I felt like I could finally go to sleep! I slept for about 2 hours until my children woke up, lol.

Last *UPDATE* for a few hours....
a couple more eggs have pips making that a total of 8 + 1 that is in the process of zipping and 2 chicks, almost completely dried off! So, 8 pips, 1 zip and 2 hatched!
Gotta go out now and Im looking forward to what I come home to

LOL @ 5.20 am! This is what's funny about being in the UK. We get first news of the ones that hatch in your middle-of-the-night.
We don't have to wait up till 5am for it either...

Well done Matheson, your chickies look gorgeous. Are they ginger coloured? What breed are they?

The 2 that hatched are Buff Orpingtons and I have some mystery eggs in there that my husband's boss gave me. I think there were 14 BOs and 15 mystery. The one thats zipping is almost out...I think its another BO. I cant wait to see what comes out of the mystery eggs

It must have just got too exhausted, I guess. There are a few more trying to make their way out. I am so tired from being up all night and all day but now Im really afraid to go to sleep and not be up to help one... <sigh> what to do, what to do...

I got a pretty good night's sleep and woke up to find 2 freshly hatched chicks...yay...along with 2 more starting to zip and another one that pipped! I am still so exhausted, I havent pull an all nighter (and then stay up all day) like that since I was a teenager, lol.
How long should I wait to see if the other eggs are going to do anything before taking them out?

Alright....
We have a total of 11 BEAUTIFUL teeny tiney chicks!
Here's a list/description of what I have...PLEASE tell me what you think they are.

2 reddish colored chicks with a slightly redder strip down back and small black tips on wings ~ RIR?

1 yellow chick with 3 black stipes down its back ~ Not a clue what it could be

6 Buff Orpingtons

2 that are still drying so I cant really see what they are gonna look like but I think they are BOs

I will post a picture as soon as I can. It will probably be up tomorrow afternoon or evening. I have 17 more eggs that havent done anything and Im going to wait another day and then do the float test. I also had a baby that zipped almost completely and then just died :0( I dont know what happened, perhaps it got too exhausted...? It was doing so great and then that was it...Ok, BYC friends, talk to you soon.
