UPDATE- 14 in all! OMGosh- 2 button quails **** Pics added

They are so CUTE!!!! I wouldn't be able to resist holding them either - congrats on a great hatch!!!!!

Got the temp and the humidity stabilized yesterday afternoon. Been running at 99 deg with humidity between 50-60%. Hope this is ok? I totally emptied both water troughs and just put a little bit in one of them. Got the eggs in last night - my SIL sent me 14 but two were broken. If all 12 hatch I don't know what I'm going to do with them all!

I'll keep them as pets, yes. I'll watch them and relax and laugh and not do housework, and....well, you get the point. Some of my friends think I'm nuts-"what will you do with them?"" why do you want those?" "where will you keep them?" I tell them I just want them because I want them. I'll watch them be cute little buttons, I'll let them hatch babies if they want to, I'll maybe sell or give some to people who want some, I'll sell and trade eggs, etc...Why do I have to justify it for people who just won't get it anyways? I don't, I know. It jsut gets me a little upset...I have a chicken, duck, quail addiction. I want geese and goats too. Even DH isn't into it like I am. Oh well, its a harmless addiction, right? it could be way worse!
Ok, done with my morning rant now.
I'll go watch the little cuties be so adorable!

It truly is addicting! My family thinks I'm nuts but I don't care (your rant sounds just like my mother talking!!) We enjoy the chickens so much - there's plenty of room for such tiny little quail! This is really a relaxing, enjoyable hobby.

I agree. I want some.

I have never seen anything that tiny before. I had no idea that baby birds could be so small... I'd be so scared I would break them! They look like those little puff ball bird decorations from the craft store that you decorate little wreaths with and stuff!

No need to justify yourself to any of us that's for sure!

I know how it is though, my family all think I am crazy for wanting a few chickens.

In fact my MIL couldn't wait to hold one when they were two days old all cooing and adorable at the time. Then when she saw them again at three weeks she was all grossed out by them and couldn't get away fast enough. I wanted to kick her in the pants.

Poo-poo on anyone who can't understand that we enjoy them.

Have fun with your baby buttons. They are totally adorable!!

Peesh, tell me about it! When we first got goats (our first "farm" animals) I had to listen to SO MANY people giving me crap (including my family) about having them ("it's just more work and money" etc) but now I just think, what the heck, it's not worth ruining your day over stupid comments. If someone is open enough to come see our goats, they usually fall in love.

There's nothing better than watching a new life coming into this world. Our first goat kids that were born on our farm were such a joy. And so was our second kidding last January!

There's nothing better in the world!

Don't listen to people trying to make you feel bad. If they don't get it, they probably never will. That's what your online friends are here for. We all get you!

PS: Goats are like potato chips- you can't have just one.

It's SO true.

I want Nigerian Dwarf goats, but realize my DH is right...just not now. We're not fenced in at all, I'm home only about 3 days out of the 5 weekdays (I sub teach) and then I run my 2 youngest everywhere after school still. I want them when I can be home with them to properly milk them, breed them, spend time with them....enjoy them and give them the attention they should have.
Someday....over the Rainbow....no definitely someday! For now- jsut the dogs, cats, rabbits, poultry and fish.

Congrats!! They are so tiny and sweet, I know I couldn't resist holding them too!

One day I'll be able to try hatching some different breeds of birds, now that my hubby is getting more adjusted to my chicken crazy hobby.

I'd love to have some goats, and pigs and a donkey and ducks and all sorts of farm animals. Hopefully in the near future we can do that since we live on 72 acres! For now we'll stick with the cows(which aren't ours, our horses, dogs, cats and chickens.
