Well i leave for work in about 30mins so it's day 3 for my mix eggs in the bator so i know by now you can see veins and a small heart beat so i candle them and out of the 10 i saw about 4 with heart beats 2 looked iffy and the other 4 looked like there was nothing in them but i left them in the bator cuz my eyes could be wrong..lol i'll recheck in day 7.. by then i should have my Button Quail Eggs

oh i know..lol but some do candle at day 3 you can see if there is an embryo by then.. these eggs i got have been out for days so i'm not exspecting something to happen that much

Congrats, that must be so exciting. I am giving incubating a shot for the first time right now and we're on day 9 and I just saw the embryo moving around yesterday. It's an awesome experience to watch!!

I candle at day 3 the first time. You can begin to see veins by that day usually. It gives you a good idea if your eggs are "good"...not that I would throw them away at that time. By day 7 if they don't have veins I toss them.

It helps you to be able to get an idea how many will be tossed early on.

I have some eggs that were shipped and they are on day 3- should I be able to see an air cell by now? Although they were packed really well 4 eggs were broke when they got here suggesting a rough transit. I thought I had read somewhere that the air cells can break loose and on 3 or 4 eggs I can see 2 floating "spots" (one is definately the yolk - the other looks like an air cell but just floating around.

I candled some of them and it was obvious there was an extra "floaty" but on some I can't see any air cell. I just put them in Saturday afternoon so it is only the beginning of day 3 but I decided to check them because of the damaged ones. The first hatch I did I didn't candle until day 7 - so I wasn't sure what I should see at day 3.
