So I did what "17 roses" wrote she does when she is ready to "throw in the towel"

I candled three eggs, cracked them open, and saw no movement. One was just the yoke with a bit of blood and goo. One was feathers, but no movement. (I didn't open them entirely) And one was a foot, but no movement. I hope I never have to do that again. That was heart breaking. I have 18 egg in the bator, I am not going to open anymore. I think I got the idea. I will bury them today. Sad and dissapointing first experience.

You mean just bury the 3 not all of them right? They might still be alive

Thank you very much that is a really helpful resource. My husband opened a few more and found one that was alive....for a short time. So, thinking they maybe drown, I put the remaining eggs in a carton and back into the bator. Denial.......humidity was off...The only time the incubator reservoir was without water was the first 3-5 days. The 2nd week I put water in the trough. Live and learn.
