Impressive. But have you seen any coyotes?

I once had two snake skins on my bed, have a photo somewhere of not one, but four of my kids holding chickens, and have seen 101 hummingbirds all in one spot. I also once chased a bear for well over 150 yards before I began to worry that he might decide that being chased annoyed him more than scared him. I have about an acre of St. Augustine grass, though I once worked on a sod farm and have seen 641 acres+ of bermuda. Speaking for myself, you have likely not seen more coyotes in one day than I have in my lifetime, though it could be true of others, admittedly. Not sure what any of this has to do with telling the difference between a fox and a coyote or dog . . . What happened to "You Sir, have a fox." I've said a "coyote or a dog" all along . . . . I guess it's my experience with humminbirds and the dual snake skins that gave me the edge.

Is this really that big a deal? Know what would be great? If it turned out to be a adolescent wolf, heheh.

it is a big deal for the OP IMO as each and every predator has a different Killing method. as for what happened to you sir have a fox are you just skipping posts? I edited the photo with vegas studio. Not compaired photos as i did in the first place. the purpose for this forumis to identify predators and pests and give solutions to ways of taking preventative measures to avoid these predators. Now I know fox and a coyote can do the same as a dog But the dog has a play drive where as the fox and coyote have a prey drive. IMHO it is very important for any chicken owner to establish what predator and pest they have lurking. as for compairing. you just made it sound like I have no idea what a coyote looks like.
On another note I would love to see that many humminbirds I been lucky enough to catch a few in one spot in my lifetime but never a large group. the snake photo was a western diamond back rattlesnake and I am making a chili with it to take to one of the auctions for our byc crew . Now as for the OP I do hope you find what pest or predator you have and I hope you are able to avoid any conflict from said predator.

Well, I live on a 10 FT SQ patio with a police scanner and a portable tv behind my mama's trailer and it looks like a "chupracabre" to me.
Also, I saw over 1000 blow flies on a dead oppossum once. It was just off the left side of my patio ,by my cot next to my George Foreman grill.

Well, you were making it sound like you were the only person in the thread with the 'expertise', technology and/or research skills to know what one looked like. That simply wasn't true. I and a number of others managed to figure out it probably wasn't a fox . . . without using Vegas Studio.

The secret to seeing that many humminbirds in one spot? Well . . Geography/Migratory patterns could have something to do with it, but around here, all it takes is humminbird feeders . . .about 15-20 of'em , like on my in-laws back deck, heheh.

Well . . . there was at least one recently.
http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/hunting/2010/03/coyote-hunter-bags-wolf-ohio

Could have been an unwanted pet release, but the again maybe not. There are a few wolves in Michigan, so it really isn't out of the realm of possibility for this one to have migrated there naturally. The general consensus seems to be that the Ohio wolf was too far away from the Michigan population, but then again, the known Michigan population is pretty far away from the next closest range to begin with. So who knows? They ought to be able to get a better idea with Lab testing, but I haven't heard anything on that front.

Here where I live, some idiot shot a Cougar last year, and the local officials declared they were almost certain this thing was a captive that was released. It wasn't. Lab testing demonstrated quite clearly that it was in fact a wild one that had migrated up from Florida. Unfortunately the guy who shot it wasn't charged, and he most certainly should have been.

The stated reason for not charging him was because he claimed he thought it was a released pet. Well, since he had virtually NO authority to make that call, or anything to base that judgment on, he should have been charged, as killing a Florida Panther is a Federal offence, even if it is in Alabama.

To the guy in Ohios defense, that could easily have been a natural mistake. But in Alabama, we don't have too many 4-7 foot long cats running around the woods that Cougar could have been mistaken for.

I can accept that, But I still know its not a yote LOL dog maybe fox doubtful now as I swore I saw a floppy ear when editing it. I had a pet wolf when I was a kid (my step dad did) some people called in on him when it was howling in the yard and a man in a big truck with a badge came and told him to pay 1000 dollars or 10,000 dollars for a exotic animal licence or release the dog into his custody. I was 7 and that man took the dog. (obviously a game ranger and it was a wolf i know but as a kid I always thought he was just a dog. Recently I owned a Half silver sable shepard and half wolf. He was a monster my daughter use to ride around on his back. Anyhow I hope we can all just agree to disagree. thats if we even are disagreeing. Good eye on the calling glad you didnt have to edit to see it. I just hope the OP finds out its a red coyote then were both right LOL
Btw I wasnt trying to show you the pic of my little girl holding a chicken glance just behind her and you can see the wheat field.

Well, in all honesty my pic of of my kids with the chickens only has part of my lawn in the background.

Mozelly: I was gonna include Chupracabre in my list of potential critters as a 'dark horse' possibility . . . . but didn't know how to spell it. Even now, I just cut-and-pasted it from your post.
