Start with adding vitamin A. Most of the time in young chicks its a lack of A that creates this problem.

Drops? What kind?

I'd agree with Robin to at least do the vitamin A (in the feed - not the eye). You will not want to overdo it as you can overdose it as it's an oil vitamin. But a couple of drops of PolyViSol baby vitamins a day in the beak for a week can help. They're by Enfamil, the formula that isn't iron fortified, I found mine at Walmart's vitamin section.

Also make sure that your feed came in the original bag, smells strongly of fresh ingredients when opened, and is used quickly. Feed only as much as they'll eat in a day as vitamin A degrades in light.

On the eye, with what are you cleaning it?

I have no idea what kind of drops and I get a Q-tip and wet 1 side with water and the other side not wet and clean it up a bit,

Stop that. Use only sterile saline or saline contact lense solution for sensitive eyes. You should never use something you can't identify or know for certain is safe, especially not in the eye.

Picking up antibiotic eye ointment is also helpful, you can get that at just about any feed store. You might have to ask for it, sometimes they keep it behind the counter.

Get the vitamins started and stop the drops, use the saline and it should clear up rapidly.

Please soak a cotton ball in the saline solution and gently wipe the eye. Don't squeeze out the cotton ball so it is a little softer and gentle.

You might want to gently hold the cotton ball against the eye to loosen up anything that is crusty. Use a fresh soaked cotton ball until the area seems cleaner.

I cleaned it up with solution on a qtip bcause we didn't have cottonballs and how can I fix bumblefoot?
