Disaster of a hatch! Only 1/9 has developed and it’s pipped the wrong end.
I’m not one for helping them out but I think I’m going to have to and would like some clarification please.

It’s been pipped for coming up 48 hours now and is not making any progress on its own. My question is would you check the egg at 48 hours to see if it’s ready? Previous hatches I’ve had them hatch 24 hours after external pip but others have gone 48/72 after external pip. I don’t want to jump in early but also don’t want to help too late.

Right now “Peeper” is still peeping away. ETA ~ This is day 30.

Peeper has hatched :) I did have to assist as zipping was not starting/progressing. Seemed quite distressed so after a quick check there was no blood so I went ahead to get it out.

Was ready 48 hours after the initial wrong end pip.

aww what an awesome hatch I was holding my breathe.. lol

Thanks, I was sweating! Literally

Congrats! Your gosling was definitely ready to come out. So nice to see someone who knows how long to wait before assisting. Nicely done!

Thank you :) I was pretty apprehensive as I’m not a hands on hatcher (I usually just let nature take its course) but after a month I was not giving up on this one and only egg that developed!

Even though Peeper is the only gosling it’s pretty settled in the brooder with Teddy. Has eaten & drank and is getting stronger walking.
