I have never read a post about this? Membrane is very soft.

I broke open an egg that a broody abandoned and it still had a live chick in it. It too had not broke into the air cell yet. I put a warm damp cloth over it and put it in an incubator. It hatched the next day and is doing great. Good luck.

Well we covered it with a wet cloth and set it in there. The egg is missing part of its shell. Were the air cell was. Why the heck would it just fall off with correct temps and humidity?? I am so clueless about this situation.

Chick.. I have never read, seen, heard. Can't even google this situation. I can post a picture if you want to see it. But its kind of nasty. I won't post it if the chick is dead though.

Is the chick alive as far as you can tell? Any clue why it would not have hatched wen it was supposed to? Were the temps low or anything?

UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>>>No its dead. But it didn't make it cause it was a double yolker. Looks like there was 2 chicks in there. How did I not see that. I just thought it was a big chick.
