Just a note that Light Brahma chicks always hatch out light yellow so if the rooster is a light brahma that might be where the yellow comes from. From yellow they go to white with black markings.

Just over a week later, black coming in on wings. Healthy fat chicks! The three on the left are the half black copper marans/half light brahma. The smaller one on the right is 100% light brahma.
