Our 12 yr old lab/bull mix B.J. either was stolen or some how got off his chain. B.J. has a spleen tumor that has been growing for a while now and we knew sooner or later he would have to be put down because it is to expensive and too risky with his old age to treat him. Well yesterday we knew it would have to send him to doggie heaven before the week was over. Our neighbor who we have always been on good terms with and has watch BJ for us before has always disagreed with us on our decision to putting him down once it was obvious that he no longer wanted to live. This morning around 10:30 BJ was at home on his chain outside but when my mom went out to check on him around 11 he was not there. he has gotten loose before and then it had always due to his halter not being put on properly and usually didn't leave the yard or he visited the neighbors yard. Even if he did get off his chain on his own i don't think he had enough energy to go anywhere so quickly, we have looked all over the neighbor hood and surrounding woods. It is is just not like him.

We are worried that our nieghbor (who is the kind of person who believe she is always right) may have taken him aginist our wishes to a vet and to have him treated. We have no proof that she has taken him other than the fact that her garage door is open like she left in a rush and that there seems to be no way BJ could have gotten off his chain on his own being in the state that he is.

I don't really know what to think, I almost hope that my neighbor took him because then at least he would be safe, but if she has this will be the end of our friendship.

All prays and good wishes are so very welcomed.

(btw my neighbor did not know that we were planning on putting him down this week, we were going to tell her afterwards)

Hi Corey,
So sorry to hear about your dog, both with his illness and his sudden disappearance. Maybe you can ask your parents to go over and talk to your neighbor and see if she did in fact take him. And call the local Animal Control, maybe he got off his line and they picked him up.

Hope everything works out for the best!

Our nieghbor is not home we called and knocked when we notice he was missing to find out if she had seen him. We are going to wait until she comes home and then ask if she him. She has left her grage door open so I will know when she arrives home.

So sorry to hear about B.J. :aww

I have to add this for you tho.....When we were kids we dogs off and on. My parents always adopted so we never had them from puppies. Most of them up there in age. So they would have their remaining years in good company and love. 3 of the dogs must have know it was their time. They broke free somehow from the tie outs and ran away. I feel it was cause they wanted to be alone to die. I think it's in their nature. I'm pretty sure wovles and cyotes do this also. Leave the pack and pass in piece when they know it their turn. I hope this doesn't upset you more. But mabey it will help bring some closeure to your situation. It's a very sad fact of life.

Brightest of Blessings

Corey...I am so sorry about B.J. Loseing a pet is so hard, any time. Is there a way for you to cal around to the different vets...and see if someone has brought a dog in, fitting his description? Or call the pounds? I sure hope he comes home toy ou, so he can at least leave this place with his family by his side. Good luck, let us know.

I was going to suggest the same thing, call local vets and shelters. Let them know the dog's description and to be on the lookout for BJ.

I'm sorry, I hope you find him soon.

I agree about the vets and the shelters, I do hope you find him. Someone stole or let loose a friend of mine's Belgain Malinois, who was a trained drug dog. They took a chain from around his kennel door and unplugged an electric wire that was around the bottom so we are pretty sure he (the dog) didn't let himself out. We were unable to find him anywhere in the area, so believe they took him with them. I know how you must be feeling, praying for the best outcome for you as well as B.J. Takes a sad person to steal someone's dog

One of my best dogs...one that we adopted..... died from a ruptured tumor....he bled to death internally in my arms, I got him to the vet but he died with me there.....take it from me putting him down before that happened would have been easier on him, so don't let some 'busybody' next door get to you.......

I hope you find/found your buddy....prayers sent....

Dennis
