BlarkBart I would tend to agree except she just brought them home today I think ........ They haven't really gotten accustomed to their new home yet to realize it's their new home and they should stay. Plus it's breeding nesting season coming up and my penhen roamed almost a mile away to find a neighbor who had a barn similar to the one the person I got them from had. (And I had her penned up for over a month to try to get her accustomed to the place. I think older birds are much more prone to roam.

Oh Wannabchick, I so hope you catch them. Good luck girl! I will say a prayer for you!

If she has turkey in the area...It is their breeding time also....My friends went 7 miles away When We got a call to get him.
The Turkey will be strutting and calling at day break. In a new home....I feel she better get them tonight.
FEEL FREE TO CALL ANY TIME TONIGHT IF YOU NEED TO...... I AM WILLING TO TRY AND TALK YOU THROUGH IT!!!

Oh turkeys... didn't know that. Oh I hope she gets them tonight! I just slowly herded mine when I needed them to go in somewhere and used a net the one time we needed to catch the peahen.... so I don't have much advice or experience on what to do.

I didn't think the poster could get up on the coop run to catch them? It is a two person, better a three person job. They are surprisingly strong birds.

I've never had to go and buy Peacocks they are sort of wild around here. Actually considered a nuisance animal but I like them.
When they do show up, they are wild and pretty hungry. I feed them and they never go away. Never on their own.
I think they stay, mostly because of the good food they get and because of the chickens. They hang out with the chickens but roost in the trees.

I think if the escaped Peacocks get fed a little, but often, starting from daylight they will stick around. Maybe feed them a little but put a trail of food to the coop and put lots of good food in the coop run and leave the door open, they might go in.

It has been my experience to not look them in the eye and act sort of casual around them until they feel you are safe.

I usually catch them when they put their tail up. I sneak up behind them and grab them, they can't see me coming.

Turkeys are another story. I'd definately get them at night or they will migrate in breeding season. Mine moved five miles down the road during breeding season. The guy down the road shot them.
