*UPDATE* I think Cackel Hatchery sent me the wrong breed. Aahh!

I noticed on their site they have posted a notice that they have had too many changing orders and/or canceling orders and they are having clerical problems because of it. They say that they will no longer be doing order changes this season. I too received an order which was actually doubled due to a clerical error. They say they are working to correct this issue but as another person said, they are very nice people and they will work with you.

I ordered dark cornish from the cackle hatchery and this is what mine look like:

This is bandit and I sure hope she keeps the mask.

This is my male.

I order from them whenever I want chicks, unless they do not have what I am looking for, and I have never had a problem. If you feel you received the wrong order, take a picture of the chicks they sent you and send it to them. If they are not what you ordered they will replace them free of charge.

They do not ship 2 chicks and if they were just in with your order they were free. Whenever I order I get the limit or more of 15 chicks, sometimes they send me extras of what I order and sometimes the just send what they have extra. There are times that the hen is red and the roo is yellow, etc.

He is really neat and so far very friendly. He is changing color as they all do, but acts the same. I would hate for him to end up on the table - that is where the mean ones go.

OK, so it was the wrong breed. I got a refund because they are all out of the breed I wanted. But now I'm stuck with birds that are going to be ready to eat in a few weeks instead of months. I'm not ready for quickly growing, monster chicken and have a few questions. I'll post them here, let me know if I should move them to the meat birds forum.
#1 - will cornish x's sleep on the floor of the coop or do they need a perch?
#2 when can I move them outside to the heated coop?
The answer to these questions will determine my course of action. Thanks in advance.

Well my cornish cross are now 4 months old and have been in the coop with the other chickens since they were 2 to 2 1/2 months old, or as soon as they get all of their body feathers. I limit the feedings to 2xs a day, about 8 12oz cans of layer crumbles and the same with scratch. Through the middle of the day they all free range and the cornish do join them. Do not have the feed and water next to each other, have it about 4 to 6 feet apart, otherwise the CornishX will just scoot from one to the other and will not strengthen their legs. When I just noticed mine hanging out at the food and water I made a changed that helped them out for the better. Raroo gave the idea of aspirin in the water, which I give 2 aspirin to 3 gallons of water every other day. As for their sleeping, I do have straw on the coop floor which the mainly sleep on, I have not seen them perched yet.

The limited feedings and free ranging help them, otherwise their body will get to heavy for their legs, which is the cause of their death.

Good luck and just to add, I love my CornishX they are really a neat and friendly bird.
