This is a pullet and a perfect example of the difference. See how the wings are evenly patterned? I don't know when you posted pictures but yours isn't masculine at all at this point. And, some folks see b/w and presume male but it's a bit more complicated than that. Look up silver Ameraucana. Now, this isn't what you have exactly but it shares the same basic patten. The huge difference in appearance between roosters and hens starts to show very early. Someone mentioned sexing mistakes made by comb size/wattles/spurs. I'm sure that happens. But never has a chicken feathered in a male pattern and laid an egg. It just isn't possible.I have a chick that looks just like this, but with no brown/red anywhere. I asked on the "what breed/sex is this?" part of the site and folks are leaning towards cockerel due to it's coloring. This is my first time with Easter Eggers. I have an adult rooster and swore I'd get rid of any of this year's young ones that were male, but this one has a gimpy leg and was separated with two friends a while ago. The plan all along was for these three to have their own coop next to the main flock 'cuz there's no way this little one could handle integration. So if it's a boy, so be it. I'd love to know for certain though, so I know whether to rename little gimpy Cleopatra to King Tut. .![]()
