Well, here it is, over 4 months since I fell and shattered my femur and had sugery on it.
I went to my usual monthly visit with the surgeon/orthopedic specialist on Feb. 28. The usual x-rays were taken and the doctor still could not see if any healing was going on or not. So he ordered a CT scan to get a better and complete view of the fracture. That was done this past Tuesday March 5.
The doctor called yesterday to discuss the CT results. He appoligized for not calling the next day after the scan was done, but he talked to two other orthopedic specialists about the scan. The scan shows no healing of the fracture.
The other two doctors said that in their own personal experiances and other doctor/surgeon ortho specialists, it can take 6 months for healing of a break like mine.
Right now we are going to continue as we have been for the last 4+ months. I will have another set of x-rays taken at 6 weeks from the this last set; which means mid April. I actually have an appointment for April 11 for those x-rays. That will be just a couple days shy of the 6 months since the break and surgery.
If at that time no change or if very little has happened, then most likely my doctor will do another surgery and do a bone graft to try to get healing going.
Also, an update of our house/home situation..... the mortgage company postponed the auction of our house from Jan. 24 to Feb. 28. They did have the auction on the county court house steps on the 28th. No one showed up for it, but Chase did buy the house themselves. They were the mortgage holder and now are the offical owner of the house. They have not contacted us about when we have to be out, but legally we have 30 days from that sale. Which would put us at March 27.
I still can not do any packing, due to not being able to move around cause of the broken leg, A friend comes up every other Sunday for 4-5 hours to pack things in boxes. Once or twice a week the neighbor lady comes over for about 3-4 hours to set with me while Bill takes a pickup truck load of those packed boxes up to the house in central Illinois. Since it is a 4 hour drive each way and the time it takes him to unload from the truck into the house. I usuall have 2 or 3 hours alone before the neighbor comes over to set with me and then alone again (2-3 hours) after she leaves, until Bill gets home. During those hours I am alone, I have a bottle of water next to me for something to drink and a piece of some sort of fruit incase my blood sugar drops too low ( I am diabetic and take two kinds of insulin daily) or if I get hungry. Of course we always try to make sure the phone is charged up and next to me in case I would have an emergency or urgent need for help. To call ambulance or some such help place (police or what ever)
