Ok, we sprayed LuLu down with Mite Spray and following those instructions. We arent sure we see mites but it makes sense. HOWEVER , we think in all her scratching she cut her throat! She got a deep bath tonight and under the dried blood we found this. We treated it and got rid of hay and used newspaper in there instead. She is breathing heavy but alery and lying down. My husband is worried shr has lost too much blood for her baby body. Just sitting here watching her.

Has she been in contact with other birds? Or been outside at all? Not sure how she would have gotten lice or mites if not, and you'd see them if she had them. What did you spray her down with? Brand, name of the spray, etc?

Don't use newspaper, it's too slick and she will have trouble getting traction on it. It could cause splayed legs. Use towels or paper towels instead.

Thank you so much for asking! We determined she had mites and she scratched herself so hard she sliced her throat! We treated the mites and the wound and have had to taper her feet to prevent her from reopening the wound. So far sogood!
