Got our chicks last Friday morning and so far, as first timers I think it's going well.
They are eating, growing and have loads of personality. A big thank you to the threads I've read that have helped so much. The only issue we've encountered has been some pasty butt on a couple of the chicks. Gentle cleaning with warm water and adding some plain yogurt to their water has helped a lot.
This week we switched from newspaper bedding to wood shavings. Whenever one chick picks up a shaving the others give chase trying to snatch it..it's really funny watching them do this.
