Update! on eggs in the bator

Lori,

All the silkie eggs were shipped. The rest were fresh but I got as good of a hatch almost out of the shipped ones than I did the fresh ones.

I'm not sure how the second batch will turn out in 2 weeks. I first dropped the box at the mail box but none broke. But when candling them most of the phoenix are not looking too good. Plus I'm having to hand turn them so we see.

I have tried to hatch shipped eggs and have had varied results. I don't have much choice, though, since I can't seem to find many people around here with the breeds I want. It's sure fun to try, though!!!!

Best of luck with the rest of your hatch!!

Well Lori,

I won't be getting a very good hatch rate for the next bunch because I just had to throw away 19 eggs out of the 24 eggs I received!!

Thanks for asking,

jackie

Oh Jackie! That's too bad!

I won an ebay auction for guinea eggs. Now I see another person on ebay with guinea eggs, just a few miles from me. Arrggg! I could have picked them up. The ones I am getting are coming half way accross the country. I bet they don't do well either.

Motherhen,

The first batch of silkies eggs came from different areas one from New York and the other Washington and I'm in Arkansas.

I would go to the post office and tell them you are expecting these eggs and please call you as soon as they come in plus have shipper put on the box to call you as soon as they are received.

jackiedon,

first, congrats on the hatch.

second, dont feel bad about the posting thing. What you're experience seems more the norm here, but there has been recent events that I think are causing people to poke around at certain posts more.

glad things are going well.
