If I can get this tto copy here is a discussion about this color I had on the other BYC with a few people
Erminette Gene
Julie,
Hutt published his work with erminette in the Journal of Heredity and I do not have access to the article. I thought it was in his book but I was in error. If you do have birds that are erminette the following will happen if you cross the male in the picture.
male ( looks like he is splash) X black female= all erminette offspring ( look like mottled houdan or exchequer leghorn)
erminette offspring X erminette offspring = black offspring, erminette ( mottled ) offspring, and erminette (splash/white)
Do the crossing and see what happens.
You may have what is called an allele to the erminette. If that is the case then the allele may not act exactly like the erminette gene. You will have to wait and see happens.
Keep good records and pictures of the chicks and adults.
