Update on Post 10 with Pictures Cornish X Rock Journal

Your dog looks SCARED LOL

I love the journal so far. You can avoid the odor by spot cleaning the damp/poopy spots of your brooder a couple times a day. Also, products like DE or Stall Dry can be sprinkled into the shavings and mixed in, to help keep the amonia smell down and things dry...

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the advice - I actually hated to put them into the cage - cause I figured the wire would bother them (being so heavy already). I did it to save them from the other chicks - so they wouldn't be pecked at.

I suppose I could put them into the water trough, and the other chicks into the cage - that might work better, actually. I have a two week old duckie in with the other chciks, and he makes quite a mess - might be easier to clean their brooder if he is without the pine stuff to muck up so badly (I could lay puppy pads on the wire for them to rest their feet on.)

I plan to put the meat birds outside as soon as possible, but we've got a couple of cold days/nights coming this week (hopefully the last of them) and after that I figure it'll be safe to put them out.

thanks for the tips

Your doing fine, like I said they will be a lot easier for you to raise when they are alone and if they are off of the wire. Your on the right track with seperating them.

Good luck and I'm sure you can't wait to put them outside.

By the way, when you sink your teeth into one... you will have a whole new respect for them.
