So yesterday our newly adopted rooster started acting really sick and didn't honestly look like he was going to make it.
Upon further investigation from advice given on here we found that he was covered in Lice and or Mites. Put him in Quarantine and treated him with Poultry Dust and made Garlic water spray and also treated him with that. He has not been eating or drinking on his own. He just stands or sits on roost with his head down. His stool is very watery. We are giving him Nutri-Drench to help with getting Vitamins and fluids in him using a syringe.
How often should I dust him with the Poultry Dust? Yesterday Bugs started falling off of him immediately when we dusted him. And how long is it gonna take for him to feel better?
Any advice or tips as to this would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hello again! :frow
Dust him every seven days. It may take him a week or so to recover. If you can, try putting feed mash in his beak so he swallows it.

Does your poultry dust have permethrin on the label? Lice or mites need at least 3 treatments 7 days apart to get the lice plus the newly hatched ones before they have reproduced. I would continue the NutriDrench daily up to 3 ml per day. Offer him some chopped egg, tuna, or liver along with some wet chicken feed with a lot of water. If he does not start eating any of those held up to his beak or left alone in a dog crate, I would consider tube feeding him. Since her is new, does he have any other symptoms, such as watery eyes, cough or sneeze, diarrhea, or others? Here is a good link to read all about and see pictures on how to tell the difference between lice and mites:
