Hi Everyone I just wanted to update on my two ducks that where attacked by the stupid weasel. Deanna duck is still not using her leg well , but is out in pen with her unharmed sister ducks. Daisy duck the one that took the brunt of the attack is still alive....she is healing up. I believe she is blind ,but only time will tell. The only way she can eat is if I put food in her bath... hoping when she recovers completely that will come back. It's taking a lot of time and effort. Most people would have just culled her.

I hope everyone recovers well. I, like you, wouldn't have culled my girl. I believe in letting all my critters have at least a chance to get better. If you try your best, and she doesn't have a good quality of life, you have another decision to make. But, maybe you won't have to make one, and a terrible incident will have a happier ending.

I have had a deaf dog, and have a blind cat and a bantam whose crippled leg wasn't cured by surgery last fall and who may have to have it amputated this month. Sally still eats, hops on her good leg and enjoys sunning outdoors with her coop mates. One of them, a Wyanadotte, helps groom Sally and keeps other less-pleasant chickens away from her little friend. Animals are amazing.

Good luck with your girls!

I don't know if she will be happy but if she does not get her eye site back I told my husband that....I will have a diaper duck , because she has fought a hard fight to get where she is today and so have i. I have been giving her vitamins and electrolytes...alon a with two baths a day and she does eat then. I love my animals...I don't ever cull unless there is no coming back like the chicken that died due to this weasel attack. She was laying down on her side kicking her legs. My husband said she was already dead it was just nerves but I wasn't sure. The weasel had chewed right through her neck. It was a very traumatizing event but the weasel is dead and everybody is on the mend. I also have a chicken that lost one eye. do to this weasel attack. I have her isolated for now. :) :fl
