I had a broody hen hatch a chick during this winter storm. The father is a Leige Fighter whilst the mothers breed is unknown. If you have a clue which one of these hens might be the mother please let me know.
Here are the list of hens we have
  1. Dark Brahama
  2. Liege Fighter
  3. Black Austrolope (May no longer be laying)
  4. Olive Eggers
  5. Easter Egger
  6. Rhode Island Red
  7. Sapphire Gem
  8. Lavender Orpington
Note: if you need photos of any of them I can provide them in the morning... Edit: I don’t have the egg she hatched from but the egg was brown

I think you can rule out Brahma, since there is no feathering at all on the legs.

And you can rule out Orpington and Australorp as one parent, because the white skin allele is dominant, so the chick wouldn't have yellow tinted legs if it was half Orpington or Australorp.

Beyond that, I think it is too early to know.

What color pattern is the father?

Here is our beloved rooster, Red. He is, as far as I know, pure Liege no mixes.

his brother may also be the father but I have few photos of him since he has passed. Here is one of him and his brother when they were young (right)

And since it hatched from a brown egg, you can also rule out any chicken that lays blue, green, or olive eggs.

So if I cross those out, we're down to three choices:
  1. Dark Brahama
  2. Liege Fighter
  3. Black Austrolope (May no longer be laying)
  4. Olive Eggers
  5. Easter Egger
  6. Rhode Island Red
  7. Sapphire Gem
  8. Lavender Orpington
Sapphire Gem is a hybrid, but from what I find on the internet about that cross: the chick should be either black or blue if the mother was a Sapphire Gem. Instead, it's got a lot of brown in the feathers.

So I think it could be a pure Liege Fighter, or the mother could be Rhode Island Red. Hopefully it will become more obvious as it grows up :)

Here she is at 6 weeks, I think you are right about the Rhode Island
