*UPDATE* pg 4*Rescue has 106 chicks-Need Homes-MN

Sorry I didn't mean to upset anyone. I just am over run and frustrated with throw away horses, dogs cats etc. I couldn't imagine adopting birds and not being able to do what you want with them. I think your a kind person and nice to want to help. Sorry for any miscommunication

They look like production broilers to me. Their bums are too round and distended to be leghorns. Maybe if they are lucky, they would be white rocks... but I doubt it. Look like cornish x chicks to me. Look how big they are compared to the adult's hands.

Guess according to their rules 106 meat birds will find "forever" homes... if they are meat birds... I sure hope their adopters know that or figure it out soon after.

Edit: And judging by those wing feathers, they are under a week old, not the 10 days they are thinking.

Well I am sure they will let the adopters know what they are, they may not be listing the breed right now due to people wanting to take them as 'meat birds'. I have heard of several ppl getting Cornish X chicks and raising them with a correct diet (for them) from the beginning and they did not turn into chunky butts like mine are now. These being the commercial strains and not the hatchery strains.

The chicks are 12 days old now I believe so they would be a bit bigger.

silkie that's what I thought when I looked at the photo--- like 2 days old! However, they are a chicken rescue place, so what do I know!

I'm surprised they can't figure out what breed they are!

I noticed that they have leg bands. They should be able to contact the hatchery and find out what breed they are, as well as thier actual hatch date.

hatcheries are not intrested in returns they just want to get there money and send there products.

If they had legbands and came in a box.. wouldn't that box have shipping info on it... presumably to where they were supposed to go? If I lost 106 chicks, I'd be pretty upset. Hopefully the chicks go somewhere to live a good life, even if it is short.

That is a good question, why didn't these chicks continue on to where they were supposed to go when the police officer found them? They'd be in their forever home doing whatever it is they were supposed to do if the owner had been contacted. Was there no shipping info. on the box?

In the pic, they look maybe 5-7 days old at most. Is the picture a little old?
