Very cute....now, a stupid question I'm sure. Can you hold them? Or do they stick you with those pricklies?? Are they good with people?

When they are angry (like when you just woke them up) the spines stick out everwhere and its like trying to hug a christmas tree. They will also curl into a ball (no soft bits visible at all!) if they are scared or angry. But when they are happy and calm, the spines all lay down smooth and as long as they dont get startled, they are great fun to pick up and hold and play with.

Upon doing research I've read that they are not stinky as they are not rodents. They can also be litter trained. I think I've found a place that is about an hour from me that has them. I'd like to see them in person before I make a decision on getting a hedgie.

I just use recycled news paper from the shredder usually as bedding.

But I had the shaving leftover in a bag from when I had chicks.

They eat almost anything too.

I had a male one time who would play tug-of-war with socks.

& when they smell something new they foam at their mouths and lick themselves its pretty funny to watch.

Like give them carrots and they'll be orange after that.

I took care of my brother's hedgie, Pippa, for a few months. She lurved strawberries and would cover herself in their foam. She also like apples. It was awesome getting to take care of her! Except the squeaky wheel, but that was fixed with some vegetable oil....
