Update-Polish baby appears to be expeling her intestines- She's gone.

rscrvc,

I am sorry. You did well by the chick, pet ownership just stinks sometimes. But you did what needed to be done and helped the chick move on to a better place. Hugs to you.

Thanks again, everyone. I'm sure we'll just love our others more efficiently. I'm certain it was so the chick did get a few hours of love. I held her close for nearly 3 hours after this started, so she was well loved. She slept untrampled and unstartled for a long time, and I think she needed that bit of peace.

I appreciate the kind words and support. My kids do, too, and we're happy there's a group of people who understand this sort of attachment to fuzzy cuties.

Thanks.

Oh, I'm so sorry. That's a terrible thing to have to witness. Sometimes things just aren't assembled correctly in the little babies and they just... fall apart. I had a maran chick last year hatch with a hole in its abdomen. All its organs fell out and it survived for 10 hours. It was something I never want to have to go through again. But at least it's comforting to know that she's not suffering anymore and that she's in chicken heaven.

I just now saw this thread! OMG, the poor little thing! It's so good to know she had some special TLC before going over the rainbow bridge and that she didn't suffer. You are an angel to be so loving and caring. Your family and pets are lucky to have you.

Yes- PLEASE, Mods- Can we have a sticky on this euthanasia method? It's horrible to require a method, but we ought to have it in our resources for practical reasons.

I would hated to have had to go through yesterday without it- and I'm certain others could need it in the future.

Thanks.

Unless someone objects or can think of a good reason for me to leave the pics up, I'm going to take down the photos of this poor baby. I just think it's horribly graphic and not important anymore- unless someone can support leaving them up for some reason.
