(UPDATE!!) Red not getting better * PSU Replied!

I do not have any Tylan.... It honestly didn't start with respiratory, it started with her limping around, and it just progressively got worse. Of course at that time I had no idea about the worms and parasites that they can get so I had no idea how to treat her at the earliest stages. The IVERMECTIN is done, now it is a waiting game to see if she can pull through this.

I have her in a crate on our front porch right now and she has her own personal fan! She is loving it! How long after you put the IVERMECTIN on is it safe to handle the bird? I also gave her 3/4cc of pennacillin today verses what I was giving her last time which was 1/2cc. Don't know if it will make a difference but I figured it was worth the try. Please keep my poor girl in your thoughts. She is wide awake and alert so that is good right?

I was holding Red earlier before I put the IVERMECTIN on her and she had almost no use for her legs. I am hopeing that the Ivermectin will give her the turnaround that she needs. Her legs and underside are hot. But knowing I just gave her the Pennacillin around 4pm it will take some time to attack the infection. I don't have the money to take her to a vet right now. My hubby starts a new job tomorro, finally found a full time job. So money is tight, really tight. But I will do whatever is possible that I can do for her here. I don't have any baby asprin but I have an asprin powder that is for horses here.....It has a listing on the side for poultry... Does any one know how to measure out 0.15gm level in ration? This could help to pull her feaver down till the other meds take hold.... PLEASE THIS IS SERIOUS....

How soon after given the ivermectin will or could i see something in the poop?

If you have regular aspirin (325 mg) just cut one in quarters and crush a quarter (81 mg roughly) in a cup of water. That's actually considered a low dose so if there was a little more in there it would probably be just fine. Just do not substitute other types of pain killers unless confirmed okay for chickens. Almost everybody has aspirin in their house so maybe a neighbor, if for some reason you can't go to a store?

Thank you very much for your responses! Like I said earlier I only have a asprin powder. I have put a few granules in some water and I am trying to get them to dissolve (its taking longer than i expected) only other thing that I have that has asprin in it is excedrin......I don't know if that is safe for the chickens though?

just checked some of her poop, no signs of anything yet.... darn! I got a little of the asprin water in her so I hope it helps with the feaver..
Seen Dawg was answering other peoples posts, but I can't get him to look at mine anymore? Wish I could get his opinion on the things that I have been working on with Red.

Honestly, I have never seen a worm in the poop post worming. I do think I've had chickens take a sudden interest in each other's poop post worming.

Yes, it's disappointing. On the other hand.....

What do you think about the comb color now, any change? How many drops of the Ivermectin did you use?
