Definitely send dawg a message - he may have just overlooked your thread or not realized that it's about something he knows a lot about.

How are her legs looking? Do they look infected?

Keeping Red (and you!!) in my thoughts and prayers!

Good morning to all! Red is still with us! She has eaten some bits of corn, a little cat food (although not very interested in it) and will soon have some scrambled eggs (waiting for them to cool) I have taken some pictures of her this morning to share with you all.

I think her legs and feet look substantially better. They are smoothe now. Although she still is not up and walking around, and is atill breathing through her mouth. I put about 5-6 drops of Ivermectin on her yesterday. Her comb is still not red but a pinkish colour, but she is alert, bright eyed, and trying, and that is all that matters to me. Thanks you guys for all the well wishes, Red and I really appreciate them.

Thank you Patricia for the well wishes. She still has her own personal fan, which she does not sem to be minding at all. Heat blast has hit here now also. heat index for today and tomorro is to be around 110. YIKES. Guess I'll be taking the hose up to the small coop to cool things down for the rest of the girls. I only have so many fans and we do not have airconditioning in our house so I need some in there too. Atleast all of my coops are in the shade. We live in the woods so they should have shade

. Any how it is time for Red to get her shot of Penacillin so I am going to go do that now. Thanks every one for keeping Red and me in your thoughts. I think all the well wishes are starting to show. She seems a little better, if you can in this heat!

Get some of that Scarlet Oil from the pet supply or feed store for her legs. It has oil which kills the mites and antiseptic to kill infection. It doesn't come with a spray top so you will have to ask for one or improvise. I spray the whole leg, knee, bottom of the foot excetra. Spray it away from your clothing. I haven't really had a problem getting the red out but just to warn you. A gal at the farm supply said that's what they put on show chickens to make their legs nice and red.

Let's see how this goes but I would redose her with the Ivermectin in about a week.

Now how do her poops look? When the poop sits for a few minutes there aren't these little white "thingys" about the size of a small grain of rice in it are there (I guess we need to wait until after she expells any other parasites from the Ivermectin treatment)? Those are tape worm segments. Just keep any eye out because then you would definitely want to use the Valbazen. I think at some point here in her treatment it would be a good idea anyway but I wouldn't do it now. Let her build up some strength.
