What kind of symptoms are you having with your hand and feet?
My Dad had trouble with his hands first, and was told carpel tunnel with no tests being done.
Then it started in his feet.
Mostly they felt like they were waking up from falling asleep.
They did the needle shock tests and nothing conclusive. He got worse, and then wasn't able to write and things went down hill fast. Foot drop and very weak, his feet and hands stayed numb, but painfully tingling.
When took him to the Cleveland clinic and within 18 hrs he was diagnosed
He had CIDP Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy
I just wondered what your symptoms were so in case you were going thru the same symptoms they could rule it out, the sooner it is detected the better the treatment works.
Had we went to the clinic sooner, my Dad might not have suffered so much nerve damage.
It is very rare and most Dr don't know to check for it.
It can be masked by other disorders, and their symptoms.
So if I hear anyone complaning about numbness or tingling I tell Dads story, so just in case people can be informed! I hope all is getting better for you.

So sorry to hear about your Dad suffering. I have Diabetic peripheral neuropathy in both my feet and I believe I would not be as bad either if my former Dr had done her job. My ring finger and little finger on my left hand just went to sleep, was tingling, swelling, and very painful. The shock test showed nothing so the doc thinks the nerve in my elbow was the cause and I think so too but if it acts up again really badly I will tell him I want to be checked for CIDP. Thank you so much for sharing your Dad's troubles because it will help me if it acts up again and others who read this could possibly be helped too.
your welcome, also I did some digging, and they said diabetes iis one of the causes/triggers.
That was another reason I let you know.
My Dad was so bad, not the normal case either. He ended up paralyzed, and on a vent 3 times, he didn't recover the last time. He has been gone 2 yrs and 7 months. He did suffer, and to me it was all because his first Dr was so lax. Then didn't have a clue what was wrong so she did nothing and kept putting him off.
She ended up picking up and leaving, with out a word! Makes you wonder what or who else she screwed up.
Take care,
Brenda
Thanks. It was the meds that did his body in! He would have been 62, his calling hrs were on his birthday.
I miss him so.
I have my animals cuz of him, I think God and Dad knew they would help me heal!
My Dad wanted me to get ducks and geese, but I was like the goat are enough!Well this goose (wild) showed up at my house, so I told Dad if it didn't come from the neighbor I would let it stay, it did come from the neighbors, her brother hit it with his jet ski and felt so bad, he brought it home to help it heal, so he released it on her pond. After a few days it left with a flock that fly in!
So the neighbors tried some ducks, and caught 3, from a farmers yard, something got to them and they fled, one waddled to my house, and the other 2 were never found.
Neighbor never had animals, other than dogs, so she said I could keep the duck! We named him Paddle. He was lonely so we went to find him a friend or 2, we ended up bringing home 5 ducks and six cochin chicks!
My Dad was so excited he tried to get better to come and see them, but he never made it out of the hospital, he did get to enjoy pics though! My Dad was so pleased.
I believe that God sent me that duck.
He waddled to my house in the middle of the night at just the right time, my son had just pulled in from a date, and the cat was getting ready to pounce!
We have raised his off spring, and use the meat, another thing that would have made Dad proud. We garden and can food, he was so excited I was learning these things.
I think of him daily when I feed and play with the animals, I feel him there with me.
Thanks for letting me share, I was having a sad day.
I sent prayers your way, and if your hands start to feel numb mention CIDP to rule it out!
Take care
Brenda
