There is some thin, flesh-colored foam tape you can get at Walmart or any drugstore. You'll find it in the same place as the band-aids, etc. Take two pieces of the tape, flatten the chicks foot out and spread it's toes and stick one piece to the bottom, making sure the toes are in place, but not as far as covering the heel. Then stick the other piece to the top and make sure the tape sticks to itself between the toes. Carefully trim the outside edges to keep the chick from tripping. (They will resemble duck feet.
) The tape has a strong enough adhesive to keep the foot flattened, but enough flexibility to allow the chick to walk on it without it being cumbersome. I've tried other splints, and this one worked the best for me. I liked it best because I didn't have to worry about the tape being too tight or coming loose. You can take the tape off after 4 or 5 days.
