UPDATE to "Easter Egger not laying. WHY?" 1st EGG Today!!!

I agree with above posters, Those EE lay off in winter. You live in Conn. doesn't that mean your light is limited and winters hard. Also, my EE named LUCY lays light pink. Could she be laying another color than what your expecting??

Yes, our light is limited in Connecticut in the winters, but we supplement the lighting beginning at 4am, so the other two EEs began laying in December and give us eggs nearly every day. I'd be thrilled to get pink eggs, let's hope that's what she's up to all this time!

I think it has to do with cold weather too, not just light. It began warming up in my area two days ago, and yesterday all five of my girls laid (one for first time, another had laid once, about a week prior). Today they all laid again. After tomorrow temps. are supposed to drop back down, and I bet egg production will drop back off during that time...JMO and just my prediction. I bet your pullet is waiting for a warming...

My almost 11mo EE just started laying a few weeks ago. I know it was her, cuz it was the first time I ever got a green/blue egg! The other EE lays a pinkish/brown egg & began laying around the time of the other girls. I have no idea why she laid so late, she is conisistent now though

I'd buy that theory IF it weren't the case that they began laying on December 11th, which was the beginning of the coldest 2 months we've had yet. AND, to add insult to injury...we have been getting between 5 and 8 eggs a day for the past 7 weeks and today we got a big, fat THREE (and ZERO from our two reliable laying Easter Eggers!) and it was the WARMEST DAY since before December 11th. Grrrrrrr!!!

EEs can actually lay any color of egg. Unless you have a gurantee from the person you got her from (not a hatchery) that she will lay blue then she could lay white, any shade of brown including pink, blue, or green with varying color quality. I have some EE that lay a rather dirty looking greyish color and you can't hardly see the blue tint. Since they are a mix of various breeds EE also will have various characteristics. One person's birds might be great winter layers and another person's birds might not lay for half the year. Some will start laying at 4months and some won't lay until 8 or more months. Again unless you have gurantees from the person you got them from you have no idea what the result could be. Hatchery birds are some of the most random and even the chicks you receive at the same time could be from very different breedings if they maintain multiple pens.

Is it just me or does she look a lot younger than 8 mos? Judging by the size of the BR's in the background that look about 8 weeks old she is tiny.

I also dont see any reddening in her comb or face so I think she still has a while to go.

Is it possible she could be younger than you think?

My bad. I took that photo at 7 weeks old. Should've stated that earlier. Sorry. I just didn't have a recent picture of her.
