Again, thank you all for your response to my rooster and hen respiratory problem. We are still getting torrential downpours every few days and I have now placed a tarp over the whole chicken yard. It is neon orange, lol, but I got it cheap on craigs list, so what can I say! This will hopefully keep the mud down in the chicken yard. I hate to put scratch down in the wet dirt. I am also considering adding a 3" layer of washed sand to the floor of the coop. I think this will be better overall for them, instead of loam.
Roostie is doing much better on the daily Duramycin, which is all I have acsess to, but will order a whole first aid kit of supplies on line. He is still a little gurgly. He crows in the AM and that seems to clear things up a bit. The girls who were showing signs of the resp problem are doing well also, so far. I wondered how long I should keep Roostie out of the coop? He was the worst with the infection, if that is what it was? They have been on meds now for 6 days. They are on Nutreena and I have added Manna Pro poultry conditioner and give them separate water with vitamins and electrolytes. I do not mix anything with the antibiotic water itself. I will go to TSC today and see if I can get a probiotic, although there is supposed to be some in the Manna Pro.
