are they dark eggs? could it just be hard to see the veins/yolk?

2 or 3 are brown but I can see development in 1 and some are green, yet again I see a baby forming, most are really light and STILL look yolk less.

It's possible to kill an incubating chick with this method. Candling is the only accurate way to check eggs. Since you're using a broody, it's probably best to just trust her. If you think she has too many, you could pull some out and try to hatch them in an incubator.

yeah..i'd leave her alone before she abandons the whole clutch.

Some eggs were set saturday and sunday. Others are older (close to hatching?) and the hens get bugged every day and are used to it. One pecks the other patiently waits till im done. I love that hen

I've been waiting until the fourth day before I candle. I can see which ones have babies starting to form. I looked at the first website that someone posted and it's dead on. I definitely wouldn't shake them though! I try to leave them alone as much as possible too. Around day 7-9 I candle again and throw out all the eggs that have no development in them. Once I've done that, I just check every couple of days to make sure there aren't any fresh eggs under them. I've noticed they tend to get a little greedy when they get broody and try to sit on every egg that comes out of every chicken. Good luck, hope this helps!
