UPDATE :( Unknown problem with rooster

I have a rooster that has had something wrong with him and I have no idea what. I am fairly new at having chickens, so I'm not too sure how to treat him. He has been very lame and has growths on his feet and legs. It's like a whitish buildup that makes it hard for him to walk. Other than that, he is eating and socializing like normal, a little more alone, but for the most part pretty good. If someone can help me with this, I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to loose him, he's my pet!

Hey good morning! I'm so sorry to hear about your hen!

If you don't mind me suggesting taking your hen to a feed and mill store; call first to see if anyone there knows anything about hens. They normally will be happy to help you and not charge you for anything. Plus they normally will have what you need for them there.

Based by answers here on the site and pictures posted by other people we thought our chicken had prolase and there are actually numersouse things that can it could be and to lable it as prolase is not always, and more so not, right.

We were given an antibotic to give to him and the chickens that have been around her. Yes it is a her I'm use to saying him because we have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a dragon and other animals that are all boys! Habit! So anyway she will be fine but he doesn't think it is prolase, it just looks like it.

But I hope you get to figure out what is causing it and your hen will be a happy hen before long. But the feed mill stores are usually very helpful; at least around here that is!

Sounds like he has mites. The local feed store or Tractor Supply should have some meds for that. Can you post a picture of his legs? I hope he gets better soon!

I am going to look for some links on this for you.

Thanks guys. I do think he has scaly mites. I will start treatment right away! I'm glad I have a place where I can get my questions answered!

Update.
I am very saddened to say that my rooster has died.

Unfortunately I found out too late what he had and I medicated him and he was too far gone. On the plus side, I will now know what to look for with my other chickens and hopefully have more success.
