Photo 1: Black Widow...Definitely cockerel. 5 weeks, marans mix or whiting true blue. No idea.

Photo 2: Chickaletta...5 weeks cuckoo marans/mix? Not confident on gender.

I'm not sure both are cockerels...some of the single comb breeds can have quite a bit of growth early. The pink/red one is concerning though...

These were my marans pullets at about 4 weeks. They lay eggs now, so gender confirmed. :)

Well, this makes me feel better about one of my olive eggers. Her father was a maran and I got guesses that it's a male. Keeping my fingers crossed that she is indeed a she. This is her at 6 weeks.

That's what mine looked like from about 4 or 5 weeks until 3 or 4 months old basically. 🤷‍♀️ I was worried for a bit they were male...then that they'd never lay...but neither were true, lol.

I was going to say even before the update that number one is definitely a little too! Always look at color (and development but not all get big this early) of comb and wattles. The settles are good sized as well. The second one is a pullet I’m netting. They will have a little wattle development but they won’t be as big or as bright red.
