i clip my parrots wing each year, since he climbs really well i only clip one. that way if he jumps from a tree he will not splat but cannot go anywhere as he will fly in circles. before you start cutting feathers, examine them for any pinkish color (bloodfeathers aka pinfeathers) i don't trim bloodfeathers or the feather immediately on either side of one and will touchup later if needed. if a bloodfeather is seriously damaged it must be sealed or pulled because it wont stop bleeding on its own. once a feather is full grown it is like your hair, no pain.
