If you can catch it tie it on at your house and then go get the neighbors or wait until they come looking. tell them if you see it again you will take it to the pound if it is in your yard.
WE had a problem with our neighbors same thing cept it was a rambunctious lab and it would maul my kids. we tied it on everytime we got our hands on it and eventually they would come looking for it. we told them one more time and off it would go - havnt seen it since but then these people actually want their dog
if your neighbors dont want their dog then they would probaly be more then happy about you taking it away for them cause then they dont have to pay the dumping fee at the pound for it. Just tell them the truth one more time and you will get rid of it.

And then to refuse to let you take the dog...you can't take the dog to a safer, more appropriate place because it's not ours, but you can shoot it.. Shooting it is totally fine; going to the trouble of finding it a new home where it can live and be happy -- out of the question.

What is WRONG with people?!?!?

My family has operated the dog pound for 2 counties for the last 30 years. I have seen where putting a stray dog into your car has yeilded some bad results. Dogs tearing things apart, won't let you in the car and then won't get out, ends up biting and then that leads to alot more problems.

I doubt they would come looking for it. I would ask the other neighbors, who's chickens got killed, if they got paid for their losses. Do you think if it kills or injures your animals- you will get paid for it??

I did mention the fact that my colt is in that pen (who is only 2.5 months old), who is worth $3000.00, and I cant have their dog biting him and making scars, let alone kill him.

If it ends up in court- You will also have a hard time proving the value of any animals that are worth more than average market price, killed by dogs.​

When I had my goats, Huskies, Malamutes, and German Shepherds caused me the most grief. I found an interesting difference between the Malamutes and Huskies vs the GSD. When I would catch the dog in the middle of an act of mayhem, the GSD knew it was in trouble and would flee. The Malamutes and Huskies would come running up to me and invite me to join them in the carnage. BTW, Huskies and Malamutes have a VERY high prey drive. But you know that. Too bad too, because they are otherwise very nice dogs.

Yeah, if you trap it in the car the leash it with a choke so it can't get away and crate it, if you can. I had a friend's dog wedge it's head between my leg and the steering wheel because it paniced and didn't like to ride in the car. Fortunately I was just starting a left turn on a light and was barely able to get my foot off the accelerator and rolled to a stop in the meddle of a busy intersection. I had to muscle this large dog off of me while everyone is honking and trying to get around me. Lucky and very emabarrassing.

I understand not wanting to cause someone grief, but horsejody is right. They are causing you a great deal of stress and would cause grief if something happened to one of your animals.

They don't want the dog. I would catch the dog and take it to the local animal rescue without any qualms. I have a darling husky mix and would NEVER allow him to roam. He'll chase anything.

DH isn't really helping with this though... He says he doesn't want them to hate him too

I said, why would they hate me? I'm being reasonable here, and I'm not making a huge fuss - all I did was go down and talk to them! Honestly I think I'm more frustrated with DH than I am with them. At least I know if I can catch her they won't miss her, and everything will be back to being safe! DH is supposed to be helping me, not saying, go by yourself

It's frustrating all around. If this was a wild animal (a coyote or something, the result would be SO much easier to come by). I am going to try calling the son who's dog this apparently is. Maybe then I'll get somewhere
