I believe I have one of my eight guessed correctly. I am convinced pretty much 100% that one big ole chick is a Roo but I will be surprised if the Roo turns out to be a hen LOL.

There are 4 black austrolorpes (Approx. 4 weeks old)
2 RIR's (Approx. 3 or 4 weeks old)
1 Ameraucana (the tiny one, approx. 3 weeks old)
1 Giant Cochin (another small one, approx. 3 weeks old)

I am guessing this "guy" is definitely a Roo, compared to the other 3 BA's this one's comb is much bigger and pinkish redish already, Am I wrong?

Next is a picture of the whole group, you will see Mr Roo with another BA behind him and 2 in front of him.

Does anyone have an opinion on the 2 RIR's?

Next is my Giant Cochin

And last but not least, my little Ameraucana whom I have named Myrtle after my best friend.

I'm excited to see what results you all give me. I know it is early but still will be fun guessing! BTW, I am hoping
and keeping my fingers crossed that Myrtle is a hen.

I am hoping that the other three BA's are hens, that at least one of the RIR's and the Cochin are hens or both RIR's.

The first picture of your BA is a rooster, your cochin looks like a female and so far so does Myrtle. Your RIR look a little roo-ish too, but it might just be the breed cause they dont look like the BA......and so far your other BA's look like pullets.

I'm hoping you both are correct since you both are almost on the same page, would be very happy if at least one of the RIR's is a hen. :)

I agree
B.A. - roo
RIR's - pullet, roo
Cochrin - pullet
E.E. - I'm going with pullet (Easter Eggers are tough)

Let us know how it turns out

OK question, why is the RIR's called Production red?

Something I had read is that the tail feathers of a pullet stick outward whereas the tail feathers of a roo curl downward, just a note, if you look in the picture of the two RIR's together, the lighter headed one has tail feathers that kinda curl downward whereas the darker headed one's tail feathers point straight out, does this indicate that the lighter one is roo and the darker one is pullet? Is that what those of you that are calling one of each is basing it on?
