UPDATED-PICS-Yeehaw I can join the Hatching Craze I have an Incubator

First, he can't force anyone to adhere to expired ordinances. Second, check them for yourself. I was told many things, but when I actually looked on my own, I found out that what I was told was wrong. I can, in fact, have a rooster if I want regardless if it's bothering anyone or not. I just choose not to alienate my neighbors. In my case, a simple google search came up with exactly what I needed. But then I live in Houston so maybe there's more on the web than your town has (as in, it's a larger city so more people are interested in knowing?).

Or your folks are blaming the guy and really it's them that doesn't want a rooster. In any case, it's their place so you gotta go by their rules till you can get your own place. Stuff sucks sometimes.

I know there are no ordinances in our area any longer.
His (neighbor) boohoo pity me is the reason dad won't let us have a roo. Dad doesn't want to cause a ruckus with Boohoo, my dad is a softy

and has a habit of letting people push him around.
Mom has a Sultan roo, but the Sultans don't stay out in the coop. They have their own pen on the sunroom and a run on the far side of the house from Boohoo's house. Besides Sunshine's crow isn't that loud. But when Cinnabar was in the coop his crow was loud enough to make Boohoo turn his head 360 (

what a sight to see) just to see where it came from. Mallary has Cinnabar to breed with her Buff Silkies to even out their color, he has a happy home now.

So you're right galanie it's my dad who lets Boohoo get away with deciding what type of animals we have here.
And my Jack Russell tells Boohoo just how much she hates him every day...

you should see her.

Well the Silkie egg must have been moving because of the egg next to it. Another Mille Fleur

hatched early this morning.
As soon as dad is done mowing I can let the 3 chicks and Bar-b out of the night-time nest. They are patiently waiting.

Well the 2nd Mille Fleur chicky just went out with Bar-b and it's siblings, it was patiently waiting when I woke up this morning. Mom was so impatient to see it before I took it out she plopped dad's laptop down and broke the power cord. Ouch another careless expense.
So far 4 chicks
jumpy.gif
(2 Silkie, 2 Mille Fleur) out of a dozen, lost 2 eggs (went bad I'm guessing (goo was on the outside)) and lost 1 Mille Fleur in the middle night (got out of nest b4 it dried). But as soon as Mallary gets back and settled from her trip I'm gonna go pick up a half doz more eggs, 2 Silkie and 4 Mille Fleur. Mom is still trying to convince dad to let us have a roo, but Boohoo has him so against roos now I doubt we'll be able to keep 1.
Back to waiting for the next eggs to hatch,
Later
Kat

Well we survived the Severe thunderstorm last night. No water in the coop.
We did have to cut up a pine branch from our other neighbor's tree. It fell across our fence, but most of it was dead and just a matter of time before it would have fallen anyways.
No new hatching today, patiently waiting to see which of the last 5 eggs will be the next.
Wish Mallary would get home so I can go get more eggs.

Be back later on,
Kat M.

I'll be going to Mallary's to pick up 2 more Silkie and 4 more Mille Fleur eggs. I'm going to work on hatching 6 at a time. Don't want to over load Bar-b with tiny chicks. The 1st 2 Silkie will be 13-15 days old by tomorrow, and won't need as close attention as the younger Mille Fleur by the time these new eggs hatch... I hope at least. The Silkie chicks have been wandering the run with Bar-b and Que, Delwyn and Elwen have gotten use to having them in there, they don't bother them like they did the 1st few days. The 2 Mille Fleur are so tiny they just hide under Bar-b when they are out of the nest cage. It's so fun watching chicks grow out in nature instead of in a brooder. I'm having fun with this...

Ooh, that storm just went over us. We had about 3 inches of rain in less than 12 hours. Thankfully there isn't another system on its heels. I'm glad you and your chickies are okay. It sounds like you're having loads of fun!

We had 2 tornadoes in the county I live in, both touched down within 20 miles from us. We had strong winds, lightening, thunder, and rain thankfully. My cat sat in the windowsill fascinated by it all.
But chickens were all in the coop staying dry, run got wet, but all's well.

I love talking to myself about my egg hatching

. I thought I heard some peeping coming from the incubator last night, but no pipping or hatchling yet. I'll check in a bit.
It's already nice out so I put the chickies out in the run, Bar-b needs to move about.
Will be heading to Mallary's this afternoon to get the eggs.

Hopefully I get a better hatch rate from these.
