updated question about my sick red star

Now, I'm noticing that her backside is covered in what appears to be a poop/eggy mix....what could that mean?

Last week I tried with no success to collect a stool sample from her, the only time she pooped when I had something to pick it up, it was pure liquid & soaked right into the ground. The vet is on vacation now so I'll need to wait till next week for the stool sample.

Another question about worming, I've got a Momma & 5 week old babies-will the worming meds hurt them?

Try feeling her abdomen (between her legs. Is it hard? Is it like a water balloon? (You can pick up a healthy one to compare)

This sounds like internal laying to me.......my Red Stars have always had problems like this at the 3 year mark. I was able to save the one with the "water balloon" issue (I think it's a build-up of acitates (sp)
but was not able to save the internal layers.

I hope someone here can help.

I wouldn't worm the 5 week olds. Worming meds are pretty strong stuff. Maybe you could hold off on that until the vet comes back?
