updated with image need help please I found a baby chick that I was not expecting

Lola is a sweet hen loves attention and she let me pick the chick up. She would always follow me and stay close but she never pecked at me or anything. I think the chick took longer to establish a trust with lol he would freak lol. He's great now. I let lola and the chick alone for 3 days and then began to hold the chick for short periods of time!

We just had a surprise hatch as well, so I left mama and the babies in the coop, but I used a rubbermaid tote I put on it's side, on the ground, so it was like a nesting box and the babies can get it and out of it to get to the food and mama can get in and out. The only thing I have run into is that mama has been bringing the babies out, which I didn't know about and it is still super cold here in NH, and we lost a chick early dues to temps. :(
Congrats though!!!

Updated with image. Lisa and baby have moved into the house with us, DH bulit a ilttle cage to protect them from curious cats and nosy dog. It is so much fun to watch them, Lisa makes the cutest little noises as she trys to teach baby the ropes!

Well, since it took 21 days to hatch and you got rid of your roosters a month ago, it isn't all that surprising that there were still fertilized eggs around...and aren't you glad? Now you have a baby, enjoy :)
