March 31st 2020 angel ( mama ) drogo ( papa ) & myself ( I'll call myself the lady who loves & cares for my muscovy ducks
) we were gifted this day with a very very cute tiny duckling, first hatching for angel who initially sat on 10 eggs and rolled a lot out of her nest & once I caught her & drogo breaking 2 of the eggs ( which I got to the bottom of that issue & angel now has plenty of oyster shell at all time ) the parents both suffer from angel wing & I rescued them from a very dirty retention pond .. when angel hatched pebbles ( name of duckling) it was her first time laying & sitting on a nest , the parents are both a year old .. The problem started the day pebbles hatched the other 2 eggs did not hatch & they were never going to hatch because they died inside the eggs

. Well angel was more concerned about sitting on the 2 eggs that weren't hatched than she was about taking care of pebbles . I caught mama flinging pebbles around by her feet and not being a good mama .. I have removed the 2 eggs & have tried for 4 days to get mama to take care of pebbles I take pebbles to see her every hour or so but angel will peck at her head or grab her little feet in away that I'm not comfortable with .. yesterday angel & pebbles shared a boiled chicken egg , mushy peas , & some crumble together & I thought I was making progress but angel continues to search for the 2 unhatched eggs & her nesting box I removed from her 3 days ago .. pebbles is doing good under my care & thanks to the advice the amazing people on byc has given me
.. I have fallen in love with pebbles & i don't let her out of my sight for a moment & I have decided that she is going to be a indoor family pet & she will have free reign in the house & will be given plenty of outdoors activities to ...I would really love some tips on how to keep a muscovy duck just has happy indoors as they are happy outdoors .. I'm asking you all for some more advice & tips .. I know a lot of people don't agree with keeping ducks as indoor pets .. but it's to late to turn back now pebbles has imprinted on me & I have bonded with her & can't imagine life without her even my dog who is 9 years old & who really isn't animal friendly has accepted angel in to our pack ... any ideas , advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated .. thank you all so much .
