The cold weather in Maryland has been giving everyone colds and things of the sort, including the chickens. I'm still somewhat new to owning poultry (about 2 years) so i run into problems more often than i care to admit. One of my favorite hens has been making a weird rumbling noise when she breathes sometimes, kind of like she has a wet cough she wants to let outg. Other birds have been sneezing and things of the sort but I'm mostly worried about her. I don't think she's been lethargic at all or had any other symptoms, but I just noticed her breathing weirdly when I went to lock the birds up for the night. I currently have her in the house right now in a dog crate. Any help would be much appreciated!

Has she improved since you moved her from the coop?
Is her crop emptying completely overnight?

It sounds like she may have a respiratory illness. Infectious Bronchitis and Mycoplasma are fairly common. Antibiotics like Tylan50 can help with secondary infections.
