I have a 9 month old Rhode Island Rooster seemingly perfectly healthy. He developed some wheezing and rattling about 4 weeks ago. No sneezing, runny nose or watering eyes. I've given him 3 antibiotic injections (Duramycin 72-200). The first one at .5 cc. He improved and symptoms almost disappeared but returned. Another injection at .75 cc and again symptoms subsided but returned. Two days ago I gave an injection at 1cc with no improvement at all. He is eating, drinking and seems active and healthy otherwise. He rattles so bad you can hear it from quite a distance and he can't crow anymore. Even though he rattles he doesn't seem to be in any acute distress and isn't struggling to breath. I've never had a chicken not respond to the antibiotic. What can it be?
