Upper Respitatory infection

One of my girls have an upper respitatory infection. I've brought her inside in a crate and am treating her with VetRX. I'm really not in a position to take her to a vet. My question is, should I be concerned about catching it from her? This might sound strange but I have Stage 4 Lung Cancer and I don't want to take any chances. Unfortunately, I'm in Northern CA and there is smoke everywhere so I didn't want her staying outside. I could put her in the garage if I need to.

Could be MG or Coryza. Is her eyes bubbly? Does her face smell at all? What are her symptoms? You can try treating for MG which Tylan 50 injectable helps with. You can get it at your local farm store. VetRX doesn’t treat the diseases, just helps ease symptoms a little.

Thanks. Her face is not swollen, nor is there any discharge. She was having an awful time breathing the night before last. That first night she was not eating.

Now she's eating again but is still wheezing. Does anyone know if I can catch it from her? I just can't find that answer anywhere.

No you cannot catch any respiratory diseases from a chicken—they are totally species specific. Sorry about your cancer diagnosis, and I hope that you get better. Perhaps she is showing symptoms from the smoke outside? There are some respiratory diseases from bacteria or mycoplasma that antibiotics may help treat. But viruses, such as Infectious Bronchitis or ILT would have to run their course over time, and antibiotics will not help. Fungal disease from mold also will not repond to AB’s. Antibiotics that treat MG are obtained from pigeon suppliers usually, and Tylosin is one that you can get from here:

Thanks so much. Of course, I'm worried about my girl but I have to keep myself safe. I feel better now. I'm also using gloves and a mask while I'm around her just to be extra safe. I've got more meds coming today. Last night she was still wheezing but this morning she seemed much more comfortable.
